Ephesians 4:11–12 teaches that pastors and teachers are to “equip the saints for the work of ministry, that is, to build up the body of Christ." If a church wants to create a multiplying movement in their community, they need to equip their members to be disciple-makers and partners in ministry, not consumers. A pastor’s primary responsibility is not to do the entire ministry. Those in pastoral ministry are there to equip others for ministry that builds up the body of Christ.
This is something that has driven us since day one at Church Community Builder. We believe that this call to equip the saints should drive how churches are led and managed. While we’re constantly looking for ways to help church leaders equip the saints, we haven't tried to modify our technology to fit that model after the fact.
